Plants of Pantanal toxic to cattle This is a manual of the plants which are toxic to cattle in the Brazilian Pantanal wetland. For 14 species are presented scientific name, family, habit, life cycle, habitat, distribution, control, conditions related to intoxication, clinic signs of intoxication, lethal dosis, toxic principle and signs of other diseases with which it can be confounded, and a colour photograph for easy identification. The plants belong to the genera Amaranthus, Coutobea, Crotalaria, Dimorphandra, Enterolobium, Ipomoea, Plumbago, Riedeliella, Ricinus, Senna, Solanum, Stryphnodendron and Vernonia. The main toxic plant in the region is Solanum glaucophyllum. |
